Sports Anchor/Reporter
Highlights
My work behind the camera is what I'm most proud of. I never liked to be bigger than the story, so capturing the best video was what I considered to be the most important part of being a reporter. Here are some of my favorite shots from WRDW, WBKB, and WYFF.

UGA vs Kentucky 2021 - Scoring Plays
Scoring plays are the most exciting in football. This game featured a bunch of fun ones. Any time a player does something unique, like James Cook's point to the crowd, as I'm behind the camera I get even more excited because it helps make it a unique highlight and also makes really good file video.

Spencer Strider 2021 SRP Park
One of the more untold stories of the Braves season -- Clemson product Spencer Strider. Strider did not make the post season roster, but he was the first player since Andruw Jones to go from High-A to the Majors in a single season. This was the one time he played in Augusta and boy did he put on a show.

UGA vs Kentucky 2021 - Non-Scoring Plays
I hit on file video at the end of the Kentucky scoring plays. Very few of these shots would make it to air for a highlight driven sports cast. However, the big advantage to keeping these non-scoring plays is for file video purposes. Suppose a player gives an interview. You don't want random broll, you want broll that's about the player in question. For guys going into the NFL draft, this is just as important. You don't want to be in a situation where someone goes in the early rounds and you don't have easy access to playing footage of them. It's extra work, but it's important to have.

Drew Campbell Walk Off 2021
When you work with minor leaguers, just about anything is special to them. They're also more likely to retweet what you're putting out rather than a higher level to professional. This was the first walk off of the 2021 season. Drew's a player with a lot of potential coming from the Louisville pipeline. He was also one of the guys who I really enjoyed talking to, so seeing him have this success was awesome.
Fall 2018 General Highlights
Watching this back, it really helped me learn how much I've grown as a photographer. WBKB's cameras were completely automatic and did not leave a lot of room for adjustment. That works fine for stand ups, but obviously creates issues when it comes to shooting action. I am not an iris fan, I'm equally not a fan of ND filters. I've come to love using shutter speed to get that crisp effect for action. Still, for what I was working with and my level of experience, I'm very proud of what I was able to shoot that fall.

Furman v Mercer 10/21/17
Mercer vs Furman 2017
This was among the first college football games I ever shot by myself. Many times when I was first learning to use a camera, I would tag along with the sports director and shoot side by side with him. He would get his highlights and then it was time to go. Shooting solo really let me get comfortable behind the camera and it was also a huge confidence boost when the weekend anchor couldn't tell if I shot it or if the sports director did. I'll forever be thankful to Furman for having a football program so close that allowed me to really get comfortable and confident.

South Carolina Women's Basketball Ring Ceremony 2017
Prior to the Vanderbilt game, I didn't know this was happening and it slipped my sports director's mind. The South Carolina women were presented with their national championship rings. As I said in the Vanderbilt game highlights, he was all the way at the top of the stadium and I was on the field level. Their backs would've been turned to him and our halftime conversation really centered around this moment. To be frank, I wasn't too sure who A'ja Wilson was back then, but when I heard the crowd give the biggest roar I did my best to focus on her reaction.

Furman Baseball 2018
I learned a lot shooting college baseball that's helped me with my shooting preferences here. I think it's best to react to the action as it happened. Using a cache recording can be a good way to bail you out if you're not paying attention, since your camera essentially gives you a grace period of your choosing. You can tell on a few strikeouts and hits I'm a little late following the action. That changed as soon as I started covering high school baseball in Michigan and later, High-A baseball in Augusta. I am a big fan of sequencing pitchers. I know some people find it jumpy, but it also helps highlight the performance when the player deserves it

UGA vs UAB 2021 - Scoring Plays
Whether we realized it or not, this game was the coming out party for Stetson Bennett, Brock Bowers, and Kelee Ringo, all guys who played big roles in the National Championship. I don't think anyone expected any of these three to play the role that they did, Stetson in particular. I'd argue Ladd McConkey also started his notoriety a week prior against Clemson. He had a lot of grit on kickoff return and watching him up close, you could tell he wanted to make the most of his playing time.

Alpena Hockey Highlights 2018
I grew up in New Jersey. High school hockey was not a big deal except for those who were playing it. Not the case at all in Michigan, and I fell in love with it. I was lucky that most of the hockey games were on Fridays or Saturdays, so I was able to claim most of them over my sports director! Getting to cover as much hockey as I did was truly special. There was always something happening with that team too, whether it was scoring unbelievable goals, their goalie making unbelievable saves, or in this video's case, a mini fight!

UGA vs UAB 2021 - Non-Scoring Plays
As I mentioned above, Kelee Ringo had his first interception of the season against UAB. His mother was standing near where I was shooting, and a fan just so happened to point her out to me. Jordan Davis also had a huge play where he ran sideline to sideline to stop UAB's quarterback for no gain. Shane Beamer made it a point to single out that play during his press conference previewing Georgia. I was able to combine what Beamer was saying and sync it to the play, which from a mise en scene prospective, was incredible. Like I said in the Kentucky Non-Scoring Plays description: when you have broll that compliments what someone is saying, it really helps the credibility of what you're trying to portray.

GreenJackets vs Pelicans 2021
Just some general highlights here. Umpires checking pitchers for sticky and foreign substances during the 2021 season was something that was felt all the way down to the minors. This was the first case of it that I saw during the season.
Winter 2018-19 General Highlights
Growing up, I was never a huge basketball fan. I've always been a football baseball guy. This field and this job has given me a much deeper appreciate for winter sports. I was never a basketball player, but the raw emotion you see after a tough layup or an and 1 is just awesome. It makes you like you're a part of what's going on. I think basketball is also one of those sports where the crowd needs to be into it. I also see plenty of room to grow here. If you asked me today about the rally racing and the snowmobiles, it's incredible to be that close to them. At the same time, I think a tripod even in the snow would've gone a long way from the stationary position I was in.

South Carolina vs Vanderbilt 2017
This game will always be special to me. I'm not a Gamecock fan, but this game certainly made me a college football fan for life. My sports director went to the top of Williams-Brice to shoot an aerial view, I shot field level. We sequenced our highlights together and it made for some great shots. The Jake Bentley touchdown where he scores and yells right in front me, we started with the aerial view and then transitioned down to my view following the Hayden Hurst block. That inspired me to think of how you could shoot highlights to be cinematic even when you only have one camera angle available. Later I would learn just how easy it was to grab other angles from sister stations, and that could provide a second angle if I ever wanted to get creative in my editing.

Clemson Basketball 2018
I got a little spoiled when it came to my basketball training. I shot more college than high school hoops, and it helped me get used to the speed of the game and adjusting my focus much faster. This particular, Gabe DeVoe had one of his best games of the year. I drove to Clemson by myself to shoot this one. I'd done enough with Furman basketball to earn the trust of my sports director. He was very pleased with what I came back with later that night.

SCHSL Basketball Playoffs 2017-18 Season
I was always taught to be on the lookout for something unique when it came to establishing shots. Look no further than South Aiken head coach Michael Prandy. The beard, bowtie, and color combo were definitely an eye catcher. I shot this game as a favor to a station in Columbia. Years later, I would work in the same market that Prandy coached in. Needless to say, talking about this game, the beard, the bowtie, and the colors scheme was a great ice breaker. Ridge View went on to win the game, and later the state championship. Their star player that year was Malcolm Wilson, who went on to play at Georgetown. You see him throwing down a great dunk here.
